ducks led us.
“Some neighbours remember coming to a bakery here as kids. It felt right to bring that back.”
Duck & Dough started with a pond, a pastry, and a building that had been sitting empty for too long. Max Freitas had spent years perfecting his pastel de natas — supplying cafés around Swansea through Natas by Max. But he always wanted a place of his own.
When he spotted the empty unit on Marlborough Road, steps from Brynmill Park, he knew it was the one. The café opened August 2024. The duck mural was a nod to the ducks that have called Brynmill Park home for generations.
We’re not just a café — we’re a community hub. A warm, welcoming place for neighbours, students, park walkers, and anyone who needs a good coffee and something made with genuine care.
